Road To ...

I will not fail, I will not back down,
Although I might be imperfect, my luck isn't maxed out.
My determination is my motivation,
I achieve to succeed, I gain my power from frustration.

I know many would want to see me fall,
They wished I had my back against the wall...

I REFUSE to be what others hope I would be,
I am the only one who controls my destiny.
You can never tell me I cannot fulfill my dreams,
Because inside of this beautiful mind, I am free.

You cannot hold me down, stop me from reaching the top,
I shall look at you from the clouds, in my rightful spot.

You can push me down, but I will always rise again.
Through the struggles, I will never be stuck behind a closed fence.
And if I ever see myself steering off my road to success,
I'll look back and remind myself that I shall be blessed.

Nothing can stop me, I will not quit,
Because my fate keeps telling me something different.
So as I sit here writing these words from my heart,
Remember, In the end, your success comes from the struggles at the start.

Lessons Learned

There comes a time when we all have to face our demons,
Well, mine seem to haunt me even when I am dreaming.
We can try to run but it is almost like we can never hide
From the secrets we hold deep down inside.

I always hoped I could snap my fingers to make things perfect,
Change my decisions so that I can say, "it was worth it."
I try to mend together the broken pieces of my past,
But I realize there is no need to fix something that did not last.

As I recollect my thoughts to see what I have missed,
Memories run through my mind like a screenplay.
I get to review all that I have dealt with,
Watching all the love, death, hate, heartache and shame.

As time passes by, we hope that we can forget
All of the things we have done that we might regret.
What we don't seem to realize is this is all fate,
What is meant to happen will, no matter how small or great.

I know I haven't been an angel my entire life,
But I don't deserve to get presented with strife.
I know I am human and I have made quite a few mistakes,
But I am glad because it has made me the person I am today.
