The Mystery of Consequence

In the beginning, they were picture perfect,
But all good things look good on the surface.

Take a moment to remember what it felt like,
When you both used to glance into each other's eyes.
Their bond was inseparable, unbreakable,
But all it took was one slip to change the rules.

Now, though, does he even realize,
That his heartless ways have damaged her life?

Where is the affection that once was?
His image of her perfection now tainted by her actions.
So this young girl suffers greatly now,
Her beautiful face constantly displaying a frown.

She wishes she can travel back and change the past,
What's done is done, yet the consequences will always last.
She never expected it to end this way,
Now things are going completely wrong because of a mistake.

What will it take to get back in his good grace?
She has already tried so many different ways.
Apologies sent, never accepted so she's still losing,
But walking away for her is an option she is refusing.

She has tried to erase his image from her memory,
But his face doesn't wish to fade easily.
Repressed mistakes that seem to remain,
He doesn't allow his mind to let it slip away.

So for now, she is hoping this love can be saved,
Because without him, she feels she will never be sane.

Maybe one day he'll come to his senses and see
Her regret and accept her apology..
